Mastectomy Clinic Dublin | Prosthesis and Bra Fitting Suite
Before coming to us
Fitting the prosthesis
We can only imagine how it felt to receive the news.

Having to tell your family and friends. And having to prepare for the various forms of treatment available to you.

But you’re not alone. Over 1,700 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Ireland. The majority of these women will have surgery, which is often combined with other forms of treatment, such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy.

The operation may involve the removal of a breast, which is called a mastectomy, or the removal of a lump from the breast and some surrounding tissue, which is called a wide local excision.

During and following your treatment for breast cancer you will be cared for in hospital by a Breast Care Nurse.

Before leaving hospital the Breast Care Nurse will provide you with a light, fabric breast form. This temporary form will help maintain your outward appearance during the initial period after your operation.

When you have sufficiently healed, you will then be fitted with your first breast prosthesis by the Breast Care Nurse.

All fittings thereafter are conduced by a Trained Fitter.

That’s where we come in.
